We moved to Brighton!

We are Brightonians!

It has been a very adventurous journey moving here to Brighton. Definitely a rough ride and a difficult time for me but it's been amazing living here. We moved into a lovely 4 bedroomed house near the Roundhill crescent which has stunning views, by the way! This photo which I took today, despite being a rainy day, almost looks picturesque - like a painting. The house is really nice except for the kitchen. I guess I was spoiled when we lived in Lima, our kitchen there was huge! But then again, we did entertain a lot there.

We were lucky to get a place for J, my older one at a local school here. When you come not knowing many people here, it can be quite daunting and even isolating, especially in a pandemic. However, I guess I always move around and even in the middle of this pandemic, if there is a will there is a way. So I found the Parents informal Facebook group of my son's future school and I got myself added to it (thank you admin). I then posted on it saying that I was new and all, sometime at midnight when I was feeling rather down with myself. So I was pleasantly surprised when someone message me almost immediately. Even though only 3 Mums commented on my post, I was happy. At least nobody ignored me!

I even met and got to know a new fab friend K, my first proper friend in Brighton and got to know her son who is lovely too! So all in all, it started positively even though D, my hubby had to go away in the month we moved here. Luckily, the local Nursery had spaces so I put in K, my younger one here a few days a week. He has been loving it and enjoying making new friends - which has been a relief!

As for me, it hasn't been easy surviving and struggling after I lost my Mum but I have been occupying myself and trying to do things post-pandemic and post-UK-living. I enrolled in a sewing class which I am looking forward to and I am finally in a good stead to get a real job! I really did want to volunteer but things have been so expensive here, it would be good to get paid. Not that we don't have enough, we do. But it always help to have a little extra, especially to treat the kids with. We had the means abroad but nothing much to spend on, and here we don't have much but lots of nice things to spend on! The grass is always greener on the other side.....

In an attempt to document what has been happening, I'll try my best to fill you readers in on what my life and how I've been coping. Hopefully it will help you too, in a post-pandemic world. Just try and stay positive. I try to.

Over and out! And here is the photo which looks a bit like a painting. Enjoy!
